Conference of European Ministers
The European Ministers' Conference (EMK) is the permanent specialist conference of the ministers and senators of the German federal states responsible for European policy . The EMK was founded in autumn 1992 to do justice to the growing importance of the European Union for the countries.
The Conference of European Ministers coordinates the cooperation between the German states in the process of European integration . This task includes:
- Representation of the interests of the federal states in European affairs vis-à-vis the federal and European Union bodies
- Coordination of the European political activities of the countries
- Coordination of the information policies of the countries to promote the European idea
The remit of the Conference of European Ministers also includes the decision on the financial and human resources of the observer of the countries in the European Union .
The EMK usually meets three times a year, the chairmanship changes annually in alphabetical order between the countries. The current chairperson (since July 1, 2019) is the representative of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate at the federal level and for Europe, media and digital Heike Raab .
