The Europaschule Troisdorf (completely: Europaschule Troisdorf Städtische Gesamtschule) is a comprehensive school in the town of Troisdorf-West and one of seven secondary schools in Troisdorf . It has been an integrated comprehensive school since 1988, the upper level at the Troisdorf European School has existed since 1994, and the first high school graduates left the school in 1997.
history
Between 1977 and 1979 the city of Troisdorf built the school center "Am Bergeracker". The parallel school operation of a municipal secondary school and a secondary school took place here. As part of the reform of the North Rhine-Westphalian school system , plans began to merge the schools into a comprehensive school . At the beginning of the 1988/89 school year, the first pupils were finally accepted into the municipal comprehensive school in Troisdorf; teaching initially ran parallel to the existing schools. The Troisdorf European School is thus the oldest comprehensive school in the Rhein-Sieg district , the third largest district in Germany.
In June 1994 the first graduates left the new comprehensive school. In the same summer, the upper secondary level at the Europa School Troisdorf opened and the first students moved into the newly built classrooms. In June 1997, 59 high school graduates were the first to leave the Troisdorf European School.
particularities
The Europaschule Troisdorf was already set up as an alternative school when it was founded and was funded by the Ministry of Culture of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as a model project within the framework of the concept of “ Shaping school life and opening up schools ” (GÖS for short). The findings of the GÖS concept are continuously incorporated into the formulation of the educational principles of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia; today's focus is on promoting the permeability of the S-educational principles for the elementary and primary school system . The alternative orientation of the Europaschule Troisdorf is expressed, among other things, in an adaptation of the traditional form of frontal teaching. The aim is to transfer personal responsibility to the students with the help of the development project “self-organized learning” and support in so-called “profile classes”. The principles are to involve students in the thinking and decision-making processes, to be open to innovations and to preserve the tried and tested.
In the summer of 2009, the Troisdorf European School had interactive whiteboards installed across the board in the classrooms. The school is thus one of the nationwide pioneers in terms of the use of digital media. The use of these networked systems enables new forms of lesson design and prepares students specifically for the use of digital media in later professional life.
Student body
One requirement when the comprehensive school was founded was the “right to education”; at that time the permeability of the school system was already being discussed. The Europaschule Troisdorf therefore concentrates on offering its students opportunities for advancement in the school system. As a result, an above-average number of pupils with a migration background attain the general university entrance qualification at the Troisdorf European School .
