Europe Direct includes the Europe Direct Information Centers (EDI or EDIC), the European Documentation Centers (EDZ) and the Speaker Team Europe . The network was first established in 2005 and reopened in February 2009 after a redesign.

Target groups

The target group of the Europe Direct information center are all EU citizens. The European Documentation Centers are intended to ensure that EU documents and publications are accessible for research and teaching, but also for the interested public . Inquiries are received in a central contact center in each of the 24 official languages ​​of the European Union and answered in the same language (or in an alternative language specified by the inquirer). For quality assurance, the employees of the europe-direct contact center must speak at least three languages ​​and have a university degree.

Europe Direct can be reached by telephone (free of charge within the EU and via the single number 00 800 6 7 8 9 10 11), via e-mail or a web platform. In addition, there is a network of around 500 information centers across the EU which interested parties can visit. These centers are run by government or private bodies with a public mandate in the Member States and are subsidized by the Commission.
