On August 26, 2018, the company changed its name from the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS for short) to “European Chemical Society” (EuChe m S for short ). This was officially announced at the 7th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress in Liverpool, but the website and social media presence had already been completely changed. In the course of this, the logo was also adapted.

European Chemistry Congress

Since 2006, chemistry congresses have been held at European level in different countries every two years. EuChemS congresses:

  • 2006 Budapest , from August 27th to 31st with 248 participants from 57 countries
  • 2008 Turin , from September 16th to 20th with 2100 participants
  • 2010 Nuremberg , from August 29th to September 2nd, hosted by the Society of German Chemists
  • 2012 Prague , August 26th to 30th
  • 2014 Istanbul , from August 31 to September 4
  • 2016 Seville , from September 11th to 15th

Prices

Every two years the EuCheMS honors a scientist for his scientific life's work at European level with the honorary award "Career Award". In 2015 the chemist Karlheinz Ballschmiter received the prestigious award.

They award a gold medal every two years, which Ben Feringa first received in 2018 . There are prizes for young talent, an Award for Service and a European Sustainable Chemistry Award .
