Members of the EGLSF

The EGLSF is an association that is open to gay, lesbian, heterosexual and mixed sports clubs and organizations. The network is currently active with more than 15,000 members in over 100 organizations and sports clubs in over 30 countries. All member associations of the EGLSF are autonomous; the association acts as a provider of service and infrastructure.

The EuroGames

One of the central tasks of the EGLSF is the awarding of the EuroGames , the European LGBT championships in a variety of sports. The first EuroGames took place in The Hague in 1992 and have been held annually at different locations ever since.

Representation of interests or lobbying

The organization works across Europe for the acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-identical athletes in everyday life and in the regular operation of sports clubs, events and competitions. She argues for the collective "outing", the disclosure of sexual orientation, of all athletes with the aim of breaking down prejudices against differently oriented athletes in public and in clubs.

The various national associations maintain a sometimes sporadic, but mostly active, contact with the “classic” sports associations in their countries and are represented in committees for sports ethics or public relations.

cooperation

The organization works towards a climate in sport in which everyone can freely decide about their sexual orientation and identity. To this end, the association works with other LGBT organizations, such as the ILGA , but also with European institutions such as the Council of Europe and the European Union , in order to achieve this goal. In football, the EGLSF cooperates within the framework of FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) with European fan organizations against homophobia and other forms of discrimination in football.
