The European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) is a European professional association for golf course architects . The association represents qualified golf course architects in Europe and the rest of the world. The members of the EIGCA must demonstrate through their skills, experience and training that they are capable of planning and supervising the construction of golf courses at a high technical level. Membership is voluntary. The EIGCA is based in Bramley (Surrey) , a town in Surrey, England ; Christoph Städler has been President of the EIGCA since May 1, 2019 .

founding

The European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) was created on July 3, 2000 in the Crown Plaza Hotel in London from a merger of the three leading European golf course architecture organizations at the time. Under the chairmanship of David Williams, the first president of the new association, the presidents of the three organizations, Peter Harradine for the "European Society of Golf Course Architects" (ESGA), ratified Alain Prat for the "Association Française des Architectes de Golf" ( AFAG) and Howard Swan for the "British Institute of Golf Course Architects" (BIGCA), the future merger of their associations to form the EIGCA.
