European Physiology Modules
The European Physiology Module ( EPM ) is a payload in the form of an International Standard Payload Rack that is integrated in the Columbus room laboratory . The EPM rack is being built by OHB-System in Bremen .
The rack provides several slots for experiments. Additional experiments can be connected via external interfaces.
The following experiments are already integrated.
- Multi-Electrode Electroencephalography Module (MEEMM) - Allows neurological measurements of the brain . Built by EREMS in Toulouse .
- Samples Collection Kit (SCK) - collection of various instruments and containers for collecting medical samples.
- Cardiolab (CDL) - For measurements of the cardiovascular system . Financed and built by CNES and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
Different models are produced:
- Flight Model (FM) - The flight model has already been completed and approved. The delivery took place in September 2005 for integration in Columbus .
- Training Model (TRM) - The training model is delivered to the European Astronaut Center (EAC).
- Ground Model (GM-1) - The ground model 1 has already been completed and approved. The delivery to the Facility Responsible Center (FRC) in CADMOS / Toulouse took place in July 2005.
- Ground Model (GM-2) - The ground model 2 is already completed. It was originally scheduled to ship to NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) in March 2006 .
- Baseline Data Collection Model (BDCM) - The BDC model has already been completed. The delivery to the FRC according to CADMOS took place in November 2005.
