The European Research Community on Flow, Turbulence and Combustion (short: ERCOFTAC) is a scientific association in the field of fluid mechanics , turbulence research and combustion that was founded in 1988. It is an association of European universities , research institutions and industry in the field of fluid mechanics.
organization
There is a coordination center at EPFL in Lausanne for higher-level tasks , which is also responsible for publications. Furthermore, a distinction is made between pilot centers and special interest groups . The former are used for local cooperation. The individual departments are organized thematically in the Special Interest Groups (SIG for short).
Publications
ERCOFTAC is the publisher of the following publications:
- Journal of Flow, Turbulence and Combustion: scientific journal in cooperation with Springer-Verlag
- ERCOFTAC Bulletin: quarterly information sheet with reports from the work areas
- ERCOFTAC Book Series: Proceedings of the conferences organized and teaching material
- ERCOFTAC Best Practice Guidelines: Documents for practical use, especially in the area of numerical fluid mechanics.
