European Youth Basketball League

European Youth Basketball League ( EYBL ; German  European Youth Basketball League ) is the international league for basketball in Europe . Participating countries are: Belarus , Bulgaria , Denmark , Estonia , Finland , Hungary , Kazakhstan , Latvia , Lithuania , Poland , Russia , Spain , Sweden and Ukraine .

history

April 1998 met Victoria Voitovic and Eugene Gurianov from Tallinn, Oleg Okoulov from St. Petersburg, Dmitri Rostkovsky from Moscow, Raimundas Kairis from Kaunas , Aldis Neimanis and Guntis Shenhofs from Riga during an international tournament in Tallinn . This gave rise to the idea of ​​creating a system of competitions in which youth teams from the Baltic states and Russia would play against each other.

6 teams played in the first season of the EYBL. The league since then has 144 teams (from five age groups) from 11 countries.
