The European Youth Event ( EYE ) is an event of the European Parliament , which was also launched in 2014. The event aims to encourage young Europeans to actively participate.

The EYE takes place every two years in the European Parliament based in Strasbourg with several thousand young people between the ages of 16 and 30 and invites them to take part in discussions on current issues with decision-makers and speakers with a wide range of professional experience.

So far, the EYE has taken place three times, in 2014, 2016 and 2018. The events served as the basis for some speeches in Parliament in the following months. The last event took place on June 1st and 2nd, 2018.

The aim of the EYE

The aim of the event is to create a special opportunity for young Europeans to discuss the future of the EU and current issues. The EYE also gives EU politicians access to fresh and unconventional ideas from the younger generation.

EYE reports

In order to collect ideas and suggestions and to highlight good ones, a team of young journalists, coordinated by the European Youth Press and with political reports from the European Youth Forum , wrote reports on the EYE events. These reports will be passed on to MEPs and will serve as inspiration for future legislation.

European Youth Hearings

In the months following the event, participants will present the most concrete ideas summarized in the reports to selected Members of the European Parliament in Brussels . During the presentation, MPs can talk to former participants and give them feedback on which ideas they support, want to implement or reject, and why.
