Euschistus (Euschistus) tristigmus is a type of bug from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae). It is the type species of the genus Euschistus . Its English name is Dusky Stink Bug ("Dark colored stink bug ").
features
The 8–12 mm long gray-yellow bugs are darkly pigmented. The pronotum has acute angles on the sides (in contrast to the similar species Euschistus servus ). On the abdominal side there are 1–4 dark spots in the middle, which are used as identifying features.
Occurrence
Euschistus tristigmus occurs in the Nearctic . Their distribution area extends east of the Rocky Mountains from Canada over the United States to Mexico.
Way of life
Euschistus tristigmus is a polyphagous type of bug with a wide range of forage plants. The bugs cause damage to various fruit trees such as peach and apple. The soybean is also one of their forage crops. Euschistus tristigmus is considered an economically significant pest in the USA .
The species is bivoltine and overwinters as an imago.

etymology
The additional species tristigmus is derived from Latin and means "three spots".
