Eutelidas (Olympian)
Eutelidas was an Olympian of the ancient Olympic Games from Sparta .
According to Pausanias, he was at the 38th Olympic Games in 628 BC. Winner in the disciplines of wrestling and pentathlon for boys. The boys' pentathlon was held for the first time at these games and then immediately abolished, making Eutelidas the only winner of the discipline. The inscription on the statue of the victor in his honor in Olympia was already too old for Pausanias to be legible.
In the chronicle of Sextus Iulius Africanus received from Eusebius of Caesarea , he is named as Deutelidas as the winner of the 38th games. Instead of the Pentathlon, the pankration for boys is mentioned here, which is said to have only taken place this once.
