Eve Waltz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eva Waltz is a waltz based on motifs by Johann Strauss Sohn without an opus number. The work was first performed by military bands in Vienna in January 1892.

Remarks

The work was composed based on motifs from the unsuccessful Strauss opera Ritter Pásmán . However, it was not Strauss himself who arranged the waltz, but Kapellmeister Josef Schlar. In contrast to the Pásmán waltz , in which the motif of this waltz is also included, the Eva waltz was better received by the audience. Strauss himself criticized the instrumentation and the arranger. The fact that he himself had been more or less unsuccessful with both the opera and the Pásmán waltz may also have played a role . Other musical numbers that were compiled from the opera Ritter Pásmán are the Pásmán Quadrille and the Pásmán Polka .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 49 seconds. This time can vary slightly depending on the conductor's musical conception.
