Pásmán polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pásmán-Polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (without an opus number). The work was performed for the first time by military bands in Ronbacher's establishment in Vienna on January 3, 1892. On January 6, 1892, it was performed by Eduard Strauss in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the unsuccessful opera Ritter Pásmán . Strauss took the themes for this polka from the opera's ballet music. He used his experience in the re-use of operetta numbers in polkas. In contrast to opera, this polka was more popular with the public. It was played more often and is still occasionally part of concert programs. Other musical numbers that were compiled from the opera Ritter Pásmán are the Pásmán Quadrille , the Pásmán Waltz and the Eva Waltz .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 12 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
