Pásmán Quadrille

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pásmán quadrille is a quadrille based on motifs by Johann Strauss Sohn . The place and date of the premiere are unknown.

Remarks

The work was composed based on motifs from the unsuccessful Strauss opera Ritter Pásmán . However, it was not Strauss himself who arranged the quadrille, but Kapellmeister Josef Schlar, for piano. An orchestral version was made by a musician named Joh. Nep. Kral created. But this has meanwhile been lost. The CD recording mentioned below was arranged by Christian Pollack based on the piano version. When and where the Quadrille was played when it was made is not known. On the Naxos CD description it is only mentioned that she did not find approval (from the audience). Apparently the work was not played subsequently either. It thus shares the fate of the opera on which it is based. Other musical numbers that were compiled from the opera Ritter Pásmán are the Pásmán Polka , the Pásmán Waltz and the Eva Waltz .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 5 minutes and 21 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
