Eva Zeltner (born November 26, 1931 in Zurich ) is a Swiss psychologist and author.

Life

Eva Zeltner grew up as the only girl out of about 80 boys and young people. Her father Max Zeltner ran the country education home of the Albisbrunn Foundation in Hausen a / Albis , a school and apprentice home for behavioral, normally gifted male adolescents , which at the time was run according to modern pedagogical principles . As a result, she became familiar with the problems of difficult boys and their upbringing at an early age.

In Zurich she attended the primary school teacher seminar , the preliminary course at the arts and crafts school and the curative education seminar. 23 years of teaching at middle and high school levels in the Albisbrunn Foundation, the elementary school in Zurich and the Pestalozzi Foundation in Knonau followed.

After her marriage in 1962, Eva Zeltner accompanied her husband for fifteen years through various parish offices. During this time, poems and texts for songs were written, which were published in hymn books under her married name Eva-Maria Tobler-Zeltner.

At the age of 54, Zeltner began studying psychology, psychopathology of children and adolescents and neuropsychology at the University of Zurich and graduated in 1991 with a licentiate .

Eva Zeltner worked as a consultant for teachers, parents and young people. Her focus is on youth violence, school issues, puberty and generation problems.

She wrote numerous non-fiction books, including three bestsellers, articles in specialist magazines and daily newspapers, gave interviews on radio, television and in print media in Switzerland, Germany and Austria and gives lectures and readings in German-speaking countries and abroad. Eva Zeltner represents a pedagogy that takes children seriously from birth, treats them with respect and, instead of unsettling Wankel pedagogy, offers a (flexible) framework with limits or mutually agreed rules. She is committed to an emancipated boy education.

Eva Zeltner is married to the theologian, musician and writer Robert Tobler and has two grown sons and two granddaughters. She lives in Zurich and Berlin.
