Eva de Briouze
Eva de Briouze (also Eva de Braose ) (* before 1230; † between July 20 and July 28, 1255 ) was an English noblewoman.
Eva de Briouze came from the Anglo- Norman Braose family . She was a daughter of the Marcher Lord William de Briouze and his wife Eva Marshal , a daughter of William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke and his wife Isabel de Clare . Her father was executed in 1230 by the Welsh prince Llywelyn ab Iorwerth for allegedly having an affair with Llywelyn's wife. Since her father left no male offspring, Eva and her three sisters became one of the heiresses of their father's estates, their inheritance being the Honor of Abergavenny in South Wales and half of the Honor of Totnes in Devon . In 1238, Baron William II de Cantilupe was able to acquire Eve's guardianship and the right to marry her from the king. Cantilupe married her in July 1241 to his son William III de Cantilupe . At the end of 1245, Anselm Marshal, 6th Earl of Pembroke , the last surviving brother of her mother Eva Marshal, died. Since he, like his brothers, had died childless and Eva's mother had already died, she was now a co-heir of the extensive estates of the Marshal family. After the division of the inheritance, she received further estates in the Welsh Marches and in South West England.
She died just months after her husband, who died in 1254. She had several children with him, including two daughters and a son:

- Joan de Cantilupe († 1271) ∞ Henry Hastings
- George de Cantilupe (1251-1273)
Her son George became her heir. However, when he died childless in 1273, her inheritance was divided between her two daughters or their heirs. John Hastings, the eldest son of their daughter Joan, inherited Abergavenny, while their daughter Millicent inherited the estates in south west England. Her son William Zouche († 1352) became her heir .
