Choir tower with apse of Grünow church

The Romanesque Evangelical village church in Grünow , a district of Mark Landin ( Uckermark district ) in Brandenburg , is one of the few churches with a choir tower east of the Elbe , along with the Hohenseeden village church , the Ludwigsdorf parish church near Görlitz and the Hohnstein town church (baroque choir tower church) .

architecture

The church was built around 1200 as a stone building with a short nave with a retracted choir. Unusual for the region is the choir tower with the choir bay in the tower basement with the adjoining semicircular apse. The nave has a beamed ceiling, the choir a barrel vault. On the south side, the nave and choir each have an additional portal. The windows of the nave were enlarged. The middle window of the apse was probably enlarged at a later date. A neo-Gothic brick porch was added to the west.
