The Protestant Memorial Church is a cultural monument in Kirdorf , a district of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe in the Hochtaunus district ( Hesse ).

History and architecture

For some time at the beginning of the 16th century, the place was Protestant during the Reformation , then the village became Catholic again. At the beginning of the 20th century, more and more Protestant Christians moved to Kirdorf, which was until then Catholic , so the construction of a Protestant church became necessary. The church was built by the architect Heinrich Jacobi until 1913 and donated by Georg Dippel, a Homburg citizen. The seven round windows represent the evangelical program , the center is the rose window above the altar. The teaching and blessing Christ of the Sermon on the Mount is shown in bright colors.

Furnishing

  • A large part of the interior, the pulpit, chandelier, altar and baptismal font come from the castle church in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, they were donated by Kaiser Wilhelm II . Because of the new building of the Erlöserkirche near the castle, no more services were held in the castle church.
  • The organ was installed by the Strasbourg-based organ builder Kern in 1988.
  • The four bells sound in the tones f ', g', b 'and c' 'and were all cast by Friedrich Hamm / Frankenthal in 1953.
