The Evangelical Church Ágfalva was built on May 13, 1784 at the place of the old smithy in Agendorf , a community in the district of Ödenburg .

history

Beginning on May 13, 1784, young people from Agendorf, Wandorf and Loipersbach drove stakes into the swampy ground at the bottom of the old smithy. Residents of the villages of Harkau, Mörbisch and Wolfs also supported the construction by taking on transport work. The construction took place under the direction of the mason Georg Trost and the carpenter Lorenz Mattis and was completed in 1785.

As early as 1827 the church was rebuilt due to its dilapidation, and on September 27, 1835 the new building was inaugurated by Bishop Johann Kiss. When the Protestant churches were allowed to build the tower, donations could be collected in the communities Agendorf-Wandorf-Loipersbach in 1869, and the 51 meter high tower was inaugurated on September 25, 1870.

Furnishing

In the place of the former entrance there is a memorial which refers to the expulsion of the Germans in 1946. The altar comes from the Kahlenberg Carthusian Monastery. The pulpit, which is located directly above the altar, is from the hospital church in Vienna. The church originally had three bells, although the 1162 kg hero bell and the praying bell from 1869 still exist today. The third bell was carried away on May 11, 1944.
