Evangelical Church in Rohrbach

The Evangelical Church in Rohrbach , a district of the large district town of Sinsheim in the Rhein-Neckar district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1823 on the site of a previous structure.

history

The old Rohrbach church collapsed in 1661 due to disrepair. The makeshift repaired structure came in the course of the Palatinate church division of 1705 to the Reformed community of the place. A new building on the site of today's church took place in 1712 by the Lutheran congregation. After the merger of Lutherans and Reformed people to form the Protestant regional church, this was replaced in 1823 by today's classicist church, which was consecrated in 1825.

Bells

Numerous historical bells are documented for the Rohrbach churches. A 45 kg bronze bell was cast in 1485. It bore the inscription AVE MARIA GRACIA ANNO DM MCCCCLXXV , but was no longer there before the First World War . Two bronze bells by Anselm Franz Speck from Heidelberg are documented from the casting years 1754 and 1775 . In the 19th century, various bells for Rohrbach, mostly in the Bachert bell foundry in Dallau, were cast or re-cast.

After the First World War, the church still had a bronze bell cast by Johann Jakob Speck in Bruchsal in 1750 with the strike note a '', a diameter of 80 cm and a weight of 250 kg. Their inscription reads IOHANN GEORG ETPIARI EVANGELIC PRIOR IACOB FIEBEIS SCHVLTHEIS GEORG WENDEL HOLDERMANN GEORG ALGEIER BEEDE SANCTUARY IOHANN IACOB SPECK IN BRVCHSALL GOS ME BEFORE EMEINDG ROHRBACH ANNO 1750 . To complete the bells, two new bells were cast by Bachert in Karlsruhe in 1922. The larger one with a weight of 240 kg had to be returned during the Second World War, just like the old bell from 1750. The smaller bell from 1922 has the strike tone `` es '', a diameter of 63 cm and a weight of 140 kg. Its inscription reads THANKS TO YOU WHO DIED IN BATTLE AS A HERO, FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH YOU ACQUIRED LIFE. BE TRUE UNTIL DEATH, SO I WILL GIVE YOU THE CROWN OF LIFE. CAST IN 1922 BY GEBR. BACHERT IN KARLSRUHE IB The old bell from 1750 returned to Rohrbach intact in 1947. In 1956, the ringing was extended to a three-bell ring again by a bell cast in mind by Rinker. The bell from 1956 has the striking sound of the '', a diameter of 69 cm and a weight of 203.5 kg. Its inscription reads O LAND, LAND, LAND, HEAR THE LORD'S WORD. HONORING OUR FALLEN FROM 1939 - 1949 IN GRATITUDE THE EVANG. MUNICIPALITY OF ROHRBACH AD 1956 .

Individual evidence

  1. Jung 2009, p. 53, gives the casting year 1485 twice, but then cites the casting year 1475 in the bell inscription.
