from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Evangelical Foundation Christopherushof is a church foundation with the original seat of Altengesees . The foundation, founded in 1928 to support people with disabilities, now looks after people with disabilities throughout Thuringia as well as the elderly and those in need.

history

The Evangelical Foundation Christopherushof emerged from the association founded in 1862 for the rescue of morally endangered children in the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach. It was converted into a foundation in 1928 and has been committed to people with disabilities ever since. In 1998 the foundations Johanneshof Quittelsdorf and Anna-Luisen-Stift Bad Blankenburg merged with the Evangelical Foundation Christopherushof. The merging serves to bundle strengths and improve engagement for people with disabilities. The Evangelical Foundation Christopherushof is a partner of the Diakoniestiftung Weimar Bad Lobenstein gGmbH and the sponsor of the Fürstin-Anna-Luisen-Schule Bad Blankenburg.

In 1928, a home for difficult-to-educate boys was established in Altengesees. Starting in 1945, this reformatory for difficult-to-educate boys was slowly converted into a nursing home for mentally handicapped boys. Scarf stone production began in Altengesees in 1970. Financed by the profits from scarf stone production, a new social building was built and inaugurated in 1978. To accommodate the disabled, the construction of a new house began in 1984, which was built entirely by the residents, craftsmen and employees of the Christopherushof and moved into in 1990. In 1988 the facility was named "Christopherushof". In order to be able to cope better with the upcoming tasks, the Anna-Luisen-Stift Bad Blankenburg, the Christopherushof Altengesees and the Johanneshof Quittelsdorf merged in 1998 to form the Evangelical Foundation Christopherushof. In 2001 the Evangelical Foundation Christopherushof and the Michaelis Foundation Gefell form a network. In 2009 a large part of the diaconal tasks of the Evangelical Foundation Christopherushof, the Michaelis Foundation Gefell and the Foundation Sophienhaus Weimar were brought together in the Diakoniestiftung Weimar Bad Lobenstein gGmbH.
