The Evangelical Cemetery on Hauptstrasse in the Wuppertal district of Cronenberg is one of around 50 cemeteries in the city. The cemetery, which is only about 0.53 hectares in size, is operated by the Evangelical Church Cronenberg.

The history of the cemetery goes back to 1783, when the Cronenberg Evangelical (then still “Lutheran”) congregation was founded. The first church building was built a year later on the place where the rectory is today. The current church building (called Emmauskirche ) was only erected in 1857. The congregation laid out the churchyard when it was founded. The pastor Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Stratmann (1780–1855), the founder of the congregation, found his final resting place in the cemetery, which was expanded somewhat in 1875. His tomb not far from the main entrance has been preserved to this day and contains, among other things, relief depictions of a church, which should underline his commitment to the construction of the church.

The cemetery on Hauptstrasse is still used today for burials, even if the Cronenberg community has had its own section in the nearby cemetery on Solinger Strasse since 1930 .
