The Stahlwille Eduard Wille GmbH & Co. KG , in short Stahlwille (proper spelling STAHLWILLE ), is a company with headquarters in Wuppertal district Cronenberg . The company specializes in the production of hand tools .

history

Eduard Wille founded the company in 1862 at the age of 25 as a drop forge on 150 m² . In 1899 it was taken over by his sons Emil and Eduard.

In 1901 the company was already producing 150 groups of articles. These included special tools for mechanical engineering , shipbuilding , repairs, locksmithing , forging , car construction and the entire metal and machine industry.

In 1914 it employed 500 people and 25 trainees. The export share was around 80 percent.

In 1938 the founder's grandchildren, Eduard and Waldemar Wille, took over the company and employed 400 people. After 1955, the range grew to around 3,000 items.

In the mid-1990s, the SWM company in Steinbach-Hallenberg in Thuringia was taken over. In 2001, the company Vereinigte Beckersche Werkzeugfabriken , or VBW for short , a manufacturer of pipe and installation tools from Remscheid with 170 employees was taken over. In 2002 the company Alarm-Werkzeuge from Remscheid followed, also a manufacturer of pipe and installation tools . With effect from September 1, 2015, the American torque tool manufacturer Jetco Torque Tools LLC was incorporated into the company.

The company is family-owned and run by a family-independent management that is controlled by an advisory board .

Production takes place in Wuppertal, Remscheid and Steinbach-Hallenberg in Thuringia . More than 60 percent of the products are exported to over 90 countries. To this end, Stahlwille has its own sales companies in countries such as France , Great Britain , Italy , Spain , the Netherlands , Belgium , Denmark , Sweden , Austria , Hungary and Poland .

Product range

The production program includes around 10,000 items. Stahlwille has focused on the production of wrenches , socket wrenches , operating tools such as ratchets , extensions and cardan joints as well as torque wrenches , pipe cutters , bolt cutters and pliers . Also special tools for the aviation and aerospace industry , the wind energy industry and the automotive industry 's product range includes the Stahlwille Group.

The Stahlwille philosophy includes comprehensive value creation in-house. In addition to closed-die forging with our own toolmaking facility, the production process also includes machining ( milling , drilling , broaching and grinding ). The production of the products is largely automated. Production takes place in Wuppertal, VBW in Remscheid and SWM in Steinbach-Hallenberg / Thuringia.

Employees and training

As of January 2015, more than 600 people were employed at the locations in Wuppertal, Remscheid and Steinbach-Hallenberg, including trainees in technical and commercial professions. The technical apprenticeships include industrial mechanic, cutting machine operator, mechatronics technician, electronics technician, specialist in metal technology, machine and system operator, and tool mechanic. In the commercial area, the company trains as an industrial clerk, IT specialist system integration and specialist warehouse clerk. There is a separate training workshop for technical trainees.

In 2008 Stahlwille signed a cooperation agreement with the Friedrich-Bayer-Realschule in Wuppertal, Cronenberg. The learning partnership includes internships, company tours, workshops and voluntary school offers.
