The Gospel Quartet was a male choir . Growing up from a quartet , it was active in the Christian music scene in the 1960s and later in the 1980s under the direction of Johannes Haas .
In 1958 the Gospel Quartet was founded by Johannes Haas. In the years that followed, it sang numerous songs for records and radio broadcasts by the publisher Frohe Message im Lied , now Gerth Medien , and took part in many Christian events.
After a long break in 1980, the men's quartet was called to studio recordings again by its publisher , initially to replace the coveted old mono recordings with stereo versions , but also to record new songs. The quartet of around ten people, which had already grown too large in the old days, has now become a choir with over twenty voices. With this Johannes Haas presented two long-playing records with sacred male choir works and songs in 1980 and 1983 .
