Evelino Pidò (born August 16, 1953 in Turin ) is an Italian conductor .

Life

Evelino Pidò comes from a family of visual artists, but was instructed musically at the age of four. He studied at the Turin Conservatory and the Vienna University of Music . He made his debut as a bassoonist in the orchestra of La Scala in Milan in 1970 , then he assisted a. a. Claudio Abbado . He completed a year of study in Vienna with Karl Österreicher . Pidò was chief conductor of the Opera of Lyon .

Pidò is known by name for his interpretations of the operas by Vincenzo Bellini and Gaetano Donizetti . He is u. a. Specialist for the purist original version of Lucia di Lammermoor , which was performed in February 2019 with Olga Peretyatko and Juan Diego Flórez in the main roles at the Vienna State Opera .
