The Even Dozen Jug Band , founded in 1963 by Stefan Grossman and Peter Siegel in New York , was an American jug band . Other members included Steve Katz , Maria Muldaur , Joshua Rifkin and John Sebastian .

The Even Dozen Jug Band only existed for a short time. In January 1964 , their only album, The Even Dozen Jug Band , was released. Individual pieces by the band later appeared on different samplers .

During its short existence, the band made a number of television appearances and gave various concerts, including two in New York's Carnegie Hall .
