The Bavarian A III were locomotives of the Royal Bavarian State Railways .

With these vehicles one experimented again with a short boiler and the Meyer type expansion control. Also, since the additional increase of the heating surface could not be improved by additionally installed pipes, two each were added to B I and C I rebuilt. Otherwise, the design was the same as that of the A II series machines.
