Bavarian BI were locomotives of the Royal Bavarian State Railways .
The BI series was developed in parallel to the A II series , but had a coupling axle instead of the second running axle. This also gave her a higher pulling power. The boiler was of the Stephenson Longboiler type . It also had a fork frame and a Stephenson external control with external cylinders. The coupling rods were made according to the American model. Many locomotives were later equipped with a Crampton type boiler .
