Evgena

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Evgena (also Eviéna, Greek Ευγένα [ ɛvˈʝɛna ]) is the title of a religious drama in Greek called tragedy , which was first published in 1646 in Venice . A not well known Theodoros Montzeleze (also Montseleze; Greek Θεόδωρος Μοντσελέζε ) from the island of Zakynthos is named as the author . The original manuscript of Evgena was discovered by the Italian neo- Graecist Mario Vitti , who subsequently also submitted the relevant modern text edition . The play has considerably expanded knowledge of early modern theater production in the vernacular Greek.
