Evigila is an album by the musicians Tua and Vasee . It was released on December 3, 2010 on the Stuttgart label Chimperator Productions .

Emergence

Tua and Vasee recorded the album in mid-2009 and initially left it unreleased on their hard drive. After Tua had signed an artist contract with Chimperator Productions in July 2010 , the two musicians decided to use the recorded pieces as sketches and to revise them. In August 2010, Tua and Vasee Evigila finished in the HinterdemHorizont Media Studio in Reutlingen . The release of the album for December 3, 2010 was announced in mid-September.

concept

The album title Evigila is Latin and translated means wake up . According to Tua, Evigila stands for a city “ that was built out of fear and doubt. “The gloomy city has to be torn down and rebuilt so that it is possible to wake up. In addition, Evigila is also the source of inspiration for the musicians, which can be seen from the fact that the music of Tua and Vasee is characterized by melancholy.

Songs and videos

At the beginning of October 2010 a first audio sample of the song Die Stadt was released . The first video was the part of the streets of this earth , a cover version of a Bruce Springsteen song. The video was made under the direction of Vasilios Parashidis, who also did the camera work. For the Motor.de website, Tua and Vasee provided a remix for the piece Forever . The original title had already appeared on Tua's album Grau . The free remix was also implemented visually. Tua and Vasee made the piece of snow available for the Rap.de website in August .

In January 2011, Tua presented in a video the creation of a beat that consists entirely of sound elements created with a vodka bottle. Tua then used this method to record a remix of the title Die Stadt . The remix was also implemented visually and posted on the Internet. In mid-January a dubstep remix of the song Who I want to be followed . Dubstep remixes for Roter Luftballon and Die Stadt were also released . In February 2011, a music video for Roter Luftballon was released. The video is based on the French film The Red Balloon .

More than a year after the album's release, a remix of the play appeared abandonment that had been made by the producer Dirty Dasmo.

single

On November 19, 2010, Die Stadt was released as a download single. A corresponding video was made under the direction of Vassilios Parashidis. As in the implementation of the video on streets of the world, he also took over the camera work.

tour

criticism

The HHV magazine praised Evigila in a review as an album that deserves the name " work of art ". From the point of view of the editor Jan Wehn, Tua and Vasee have constructed a city with twists and turns that can be found in the head of the listener. The production of the pieces ranges between “ Eastern Bloc folklore and swirling electro-electronics. “Nevertheless, it is noted in the criticism that Evigila is not“ rap music in the classical sense ”, so that a fundamental openness is required from the listener. If this willingness is given, the album is exciting to listen to due to its “ well-considered and carefully conceptualized details ”.

The hip-hop magazine Juice rated Evigila with four out of a possible six crowns and praised the cryptic songs like “Scenes of the Desert” or “Red Balloon”, which score with their strong visual language . In addition, the meticulously thought-out concept and the enormous attention to detail as well as the musical preferences for drum and bass , IDM and dubstep . However, the sometimes somewhat too flat texts were criticized. The idea behind “Evigila” could come across to the common rap listener in a somewhat pretentious and pseudo-avant-garde manner because of its complex metaphor, the divergent levels of interpretation and the dark sound.
