Sowerby Bridge is located approximately 15 km west of Bradford, 15 km northwest of Huddersfield, 25 km northeast of Rochdale, 30 km east of Burnley and 40 km northeast of Manchester.

Sowerby Bridge is located on the A-road A58, about 8 km from the M62 removed. From here, the Calder Hebble Canal leads to Wakefield and the Rochdale Canal to Manchester, both of which are mainly used for recreational boating. The city is also connected to the rail network: trains on the Calder Valley Line run to Halifax , Bradford and Leeds in the east and to Burnley , Rochdale and Manchester in the west.
