Ewald Döpper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ewald Döpper , usually called Farmer Ewald , (born August 11, 1929 in Seppenrade ; † November 1994 ) was a German farmer. He built the Prickings-Hof in the Münsterland.

Life

Ewald Döpper was born the seventh of twelve children into a farming family. After eight years of elementary school , he became a prisoner of war for several months during his short military service . Then he worked on various Münsterland farms. Through his marriage to Maria-Henriette Pricking on October 15, 1958, he came into the possession of the Prickings-Hof in Sythen -Lehmbraken (in Haltern am See ), which was initially an ordinary agricultural business, but gradually became a slaughterhouse with a tasting room and a bakery was added. Before the excursions to the Prickingshof organized by Döpper, it was common practice to lure people with well-known sights to participate in them. For this purpose he bought what was supposedly the heaviest breeding bull and what was supposedly the largest biogas plant in the past and launched the first official animal peep show , all superlatives "in the world". Ewald Döpper gained national fame through the farm.

The memory of Ewald Döpper is still cherished at the “Prickings-Hof”. “Farmer Ewald” is omnipresent to visitors to the farm through quotes on tablets and pictures.

Media interest

In addition to repeated visits by regional, national and international media to the courtyard, Larry Hagman's flight in for Döpper's 65th birthday in the summer of 1994 was particularly popular .

In 1985 Constantin Pauli received the Ernst Schneider Prize (special prize) for the documentary film " Under German Roofs : Farmer Ewald's Economic Miracle" .
