Ewart Bartley
Ewart Andrew Bartley (born January 4, 1909 in Toronto , † August 28, 1987 in Cambridge / Ontario ) was a Canadian organist, choir director, music teacher and composer.
Bartley studied organ with Albert Jordan , piano with Ernest Seitz and composition with Healey Willan at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto . In 1943 he became music director of Knox's Presbyterian Church in Cambridge. He also worked as an examiner at the Western Ontario Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory. He composed 60 works, including piano pieces such as The Whistling Boy and River Song (1966), a Suite for Children (1950) and Two Dances for Piano (1960) and the choral work Blessed is the Man (1975).
