exegesis
Exegesis ( ancient Greek ἐξήγησις exēgesis , German 'interpretation, explanation' ) is the interpretation or interpretation of texts . An exegete is therefore someone who practices exegesis. The central statements, contents and structural features of a text should be made clear and accessible to the reader. In everyday language usage, the term is mostly used with reference to the holy scriptures of the book religions . The term can also be found in connection with the interpretation of legal or other texts.
