exelearning (eXe) is a free open source authoring tool software for the production of digital learning content.

The authoring tool was developed at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) / Taurawhiti Polytech , funded by the Tertiary Education Commission of New Zealand (TEC) . It has been translated into more than twelve languages ​​and received the Leadership Award Silver in 2008 from the IMS Global Learning Consortium .

EXe is now widespread in Europe and particularly in Germany.

Possible applications

eXe is a robust, intuitive tool that can be used to develop learning units with case studies, picture galleries, flash animations, PowerPoint presentations and audio and video files without any programming knowledge. The learning units can be published on a website in the Internet or intranet as WBT ( Web Based Training ), on any data carrier as CBT ( Computer Based Training ) and as an iPod note. It is also possible to adopt it in Learning Management Systems (LMS) as a learning package in the formats SCORM , Common Cartridge and IMS Content Package.
