Expander (machine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In tool making , expanders are used to seal holes. The expander consists of a metal cylinder with a ball on one end. The force exerted on the ball pushes it into the cylinder so that it expands and seals the bore .

The expander is also used in a manufacturing step in the manufacture of pipeline pipes.
