Experimental group in Holland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Experimentele Groep in Holland is an artist group founded on July 16, 1948. The painters Corneille , Karel Appel and Constant found the Experimentele Groep in Holland, also known as the Nederlands Experimentele Groep . Theo Wolvecamp , Anton Rooskens and Jan Nieuwenhuijs were also among the founding members. They chose the Danish artist group Høst as a model. Later the writers Gerrit Kouwenaar , Jan Elburg , Bert Schierbeek and Lucebert joined as members. The magazine Reflex was published, in which the manifesto of the artist group CoBrA was published.

Constant , Karel Appel and Corneille represented the group at an artists' meeting in Paris. Together with the Danish Asger Jorn , the Belgians Christian Dotremont and Joseph Noiret , they decided to merge the Dutch Experimentele Groep , the Danish Høst-groep and the Belgian Groupe Surréaliste Révolutionaire to form the artists' association CoBrA.
