Eyefear is an Australian progressive and power metal band from Melbourne that was formed in 1994.

history

The band was formed in the summer of 1994 by guitarist Con Papazoglou, bassist Rob Gorham, drummer Zain Kimmie and guitarist Ken Taylor. A few months later, the band found a suitable singer in Jason Smart. After the band had rehearsed songs and played concerts for a few months, they went to Toyland Studios to record their debut album Edge of Existence . The recordings took place from November 1995 to March 1996.

In April 1997 singer Jason Smart left the band, shortly followed by guitarist Ken Taylor. In November 1997 guitarist Anthony Porchia joined the band. In June 1998 the band went to the studio for rehearsals. Meanwhile, singer Jimmy Georgopoulos joined the cast. Keyboardist Shiran Manan also joined the band in July. Together they worked on new songs, which resulted in the EP Dawn ... A New Beginning , which included two songs from their debut album. Between August 1999 and February 2000 guitarist Anthony Porchia, singer Jimmy Georgopoulos and keyboardist Shiran Manan left the band. The remaining members continued rehearsing. In September 2000 keyboardist Garrett Ryan and singer Danny Cecati came to replace the band.

In September 2002 the band recorded songs for a new album. The recordings for the album 9 Elements of Inner Vision took place under the direction of Endel Rivers at Palm Studios . Keyboardist Ryan briefly left the band in October before rejoining the band in November, but left the line-up a little later. In the course of the recording process he was replaced by Sammy Giaccotto. The album was released in 2004 through Massacre Records . In 2007 the band released the album A World Full of Gray via Dockyard 1 , which The Unseen joined in 2008 .

style

The band plays progressive power metal, where the drums are played very precisely and the keyboard has a dominant role.
