eyes and more (proper spelling mainly: eyes + more) is an international chain of ophthalmic optics - specialty shops . In total there are more than 210 branches in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. In Germany the company is one of the four largest optician chains.

history

The company was founded in 2005 in the Netherlands by Ad Mathijssen and Eric Ezendam. The product focus was on glasses at an all-inclusive price for lenses and frames. In 2006 eyes and more GmbH was founded in Germany with headquarters in Hamburg. In October 2010, the majority of the shares were taken over by the Belgian investment fund Vendis Capital for EUR 12 million. The company's founders kept a minority stake. In April 2012 the company expanded to Austria . The first branch in Belgium followed in 2016. In 2018, E & M Holding BV made a total turnover of 77 million euros.

In December 2018, the takeover of eyes and more by the Dutch Hans-Anders Group was announced, which in turn belongs to the London-based financial investor 3i .

Companies

Five subsidiaries are set up under the umbrella of the Dutch parent company E & M Holding BV. a. the eyes and more GmbH (Germany), the eyes and more Austria GmbH and the E & M BV (Netherlands) united.

The 31 branches in the Netherlands are operated by E & M BV. In Germany, the company has 131 stores (as of 2019). Of these, 18 branches are operated by franchise partners, the rest are operated by eyes and more GmbH. There are two internal training centers for basic and advanced training in Dortmund and Berlin. In addition, further training to become a master optician is supported and managers are trained internally. In Austria, all eight branches are operated by eyes and more Österreich GmbH. The company is represented at 15 locations in Belgium.

The company develops monthly collections. The frames are own brands that are developed in-house.

The chain store employs more than 750 people.
