The Wirtschaftsblatt (spelling: WirtschaftsBlatt ) was a supraregional Austrian daily newspaper with a focus on economics .

history

The Wirtschaftsblatt first appeared in October 1995. Jens Tschebull was editor. It had specialized in the areas of economics and economic policy , companies and markets , stock exchanges and investments and was, according to its own statements, the only special-interest newspaper of its kind in Austria. The newspaper was published every trading day from Monday to Friday and was designed by around 50 specialist journalists and 30 employees working in the production of the newspaper.

On August 16, 2016, the Styria Media Group announced that the business paper would appear for the last time on September 2, 2016. Thanks to restructuring and savings, it has been possible in recent years to significantly reduce the economic newspaper's losses while maintaining the quality of the newspaper. However, the costs cannot be refinanced from the market in the future either.

The last print edition appeared on September 2, 2016. On October 28, 2016 the online portal Wirtschaftsblatt.at was also discontinued.

owner

Initially, Styria Multimedia AG and the Swedish media group Bonnier each held 50% of the Wirtschaftsblatt and the online portalirtschaftsblatt.at. In May 2006, Styria took over all Bonnier shares and became 100% owner of Wirtschaftsblatt Medien GmbH. The Wirtschaftsblatt.at portal belonging to the Wirtschaftsblatt (operated by Wirtschaftsblatt Medien GmbH, managed and technically supported by Styria Digital One GmbH) is also wholly owned by the Styria Media Group.

The business daily was cooperative members of the Austria Press Agency .

According to the Austrian Edition Control (ÖAK) , the Wirtschaftsblatt had a sales circulation of 20,537 copies in 2009 and was read by around 66,000 (Friday edition: 80,000) people according to the Working Group Media Analyzes MA 13/14 - Daily Newspapers . This corresponds to a reach (Austria-wide) of around 0.9% (CHF 1.1%).

On January 25, 2007, the redesigned online mediumwirtschaftsblatt.at was restarted in the form of an integrated editorial team. The content of the portal was based on the editorial of the business paper.

According to Austrian Web Analysis (ÖWA) from December 2014, the online medium achieved around 546,000 unique clients , 1.4 million visits and over 3.51 million page views with an average length of stay of 4:43 minutes.
