Retail chain (company)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A retail chain describes a retail company that has several business premises . These are either dependent branches of the trading company or follow a franchise principle with contractually bound but legally independent shop operators. Some retail chains also have both forms; at first glance it is not possible to tell whether it is a branch or the business of an independent businessman.

In addition, there are loosely tied voluntary chains that are only linked to one another via a cooperation agreement and, for example, purchase certain goods through a central purchasing department .

Well-known retail chains with branch systems are for example Aldi or Lidl , pure franchise Fressnapf or the Benetton Group . The Rewe Group , Edeka and Obi work according to both the branch and the franchise system . Better known voluntary chains include Sport 2000 and Expert .
