Faecal suction system

A fecal suction is used in the recreational boating to the port to clear a recovery tank. It is forbidden to discharge wastewater or even faeces on inland waters and increasingly also on various seas . Feces from the on- board toilet and dirty water are therefore collected in a holding tank and pumped out in the port.

function

An electric vacuum pump sucks the feces out of the ship's holding tank through a thick hose and feeds them into the public sewer system for clarification in a sewage treatment plant .

The station is usually permanently installed on a footbridge. The sport boat moored at the jetty. The hose, at the end of which there is a tightly fitting rubber nozzle, is inserted into the suction nozzle of the holding tank. The suction process only takes a few minutes. The pump must then be switched off to prevent overheating and damage.

There are also mobile suction devices that are used mobile at the respective berth of the ship and emptied into a collecting container after use.

distribution

In the 1990s, when the use of a waste holding tank was increasingly prescribed ( MARPOL ), such suction points were rarely found. They are now increasingly common and are standard in larger ports and marinas .

Since April 9, 2008, the discharge of waste water has been prohibited in the Baltic Sea ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 698 ). The installation of waste water tanks is mandatory for new ships.
