The Fédération nationale des offices de tourisme et syndicats d'initiatives , FNOTSI for short , based in Paris is the national umbrella organization of French tourism associations (French offices de tourisme ) and tourist offices (French syndicats d'initiative ). The FNOTSI unites around 3600 members and thus represents the densest European network of tourism structures according to its own statements.

The aim of the umbrella organization is to protect the interests of its members vis-à-vis public bodies or other public or private partners. He defines the general lines of politics within the member network, coordinates actions and gives impulses. He guarantees the fulfillment of the missions of the tourist associations and offices defined by article 10 of the law of December 23, 1992: reception, information and advertising, as well as for sales promotion, animation and argumentation towards municipal administrations and the local population. FNOTSI is represented by four delegated members in the national commission, which, under the auspices of the French Secretary of State for Tourism, decides on the classification of tourism associations (1 to 4 stars).

In order to achieve the goals of FNOTSI, several working committees, each headed by a member of the umbrella association, constantly deal with issues such as “Reception”, “Culture”, “Environment”, “Training”, “Accommodation”.

Furthermore, there are several so-called theme clubs within FNOTSI, in which those responsible for tourism associations or offices come together to initiate joint advertising or sales promotion campaigns and to find ways and means to further enhance their location or to better satisfy their customers. For example, the “Presse” club brings together 80 tourist associations that organize regular meetings with representatives of the specialist press and publish the “Tourisme Avant-Première” magazine, which is published four times a year and distributed to 850 domestic and foreign specialist journalists. The Club “Bon Week-end en Villes” (nice weekend in the cities) brings together 40 tourist offices with partners from the hotel industry who offer two hotel nights for the price of one in the winter season, in the club “Offices de Tourisme du Littoral” (tourist associations the coast) 30 tourist associations on the Atlantic coast with the aim of building a common image, and in the club “Villes Sanctuaires” (Holy Cities) 15 places of pilgrimage, which develop programs for pilgrimages and guided tours on overarching topics.

FNOTSI and its members are present on the Internet under the name “Tourisme en France”. FNOTSI also maintains its job market exchange for job searches and offers on the Internet. It aims to create 1,500 new jobs in the medium term. In parallel to this field of activity, it offers a further training program for the employees of the tourism associations and offices affiliated with it.
