Födekam

The Musikverband Födekam Ostbelgien VoG (formally: Regional Association of Instrumental and Vocal Ensembles in the German-speaking Community of Belgium ) is a non-profit association based in Sankt Vith . 137 choirs, orchestras, music clubs, minstrels' marches, children's choirs, youth choirs and youth orchestras are affiliated to it. The aim of the association is to promote music and singing on a cultural level in the amateur art field.

The association is also a sponsoring association through its diverse training and further education offers in the amateur music sector, representation of interests vis-à-vis regional and national institutions and authorities, as well as through many service offers (e.g. music library and member database) service provider for its associations.

The music association Födekam was founded in 1959 based on the model of the Federation of Catholic Music Associations of the Province of Antwerp (Fedekam Antwerp).

Classification of music associations

In the German-speaking community , music associations receive a financial grant, the amount of which depends on the quality of the services provided and the size of the association. An independent expert jury will classify them into categories (1st, 2nd, 3rd category, class of excellence, honor division or maximum level).

The classification is organized and supervised by the government of the German-speaking Community and organized by the music association Födekam Ostbelgien.
