Federation of the Transylvanian Saxons

The Federation of Transylvanian Saxons is the global union of the associations of Transylvanian Saxons .

The federation's headquarters have been in Munich since it was founded in 1983 . A branch has existed in Hermannstadt (Sibiu), Romania , since 2008 .

The federation serves the unity of all Transylvanian Saxons and the enforcement of their interests necessary for the preservation of the community, in particular in the humanitarian, social and cultural area as well as in politics and society, as far as this has transnational reference. In the territory of their home states, the members of the federation are independent in realizing their goals.

Members

Member associations of the federation are the Association of Transylvanian Saxons in Germany, the Federal Association of Transylvanian Saxons in Austria, the Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons (ATS) in the USA, the Landsmannschaft der Transylvanian Saxons in Canada and the Democratic Forum of Germans in Transylvania .

The federal chairmen of the national associations form the Federation Council, which decides on common strategies. The chairman of the federation has been the association president of the Union of Transylvanian Saxons in Germany, Bernd Fabritius (Germany) , since November 2007 . The governing body includes: Herta Daniel (Federal Chairwoman of the Transylvanian Saxons in Germany), Martin Bottesch (Democratic Forum of Germans in Transylvania / Romania), Paul-Jürgen Porr (Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania), Manfred Schuller (Federal Association of Transylvanian Saxons in Austria), John Werner (Landsmannschaft der Transylvanian Saxons in Canada), Joan Miller-Malue (Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons in the USA) and Hans Gärtner (Association of Transylvanian-Saxon Hometown Communities ).
