The twenty-five (25) is the natural number between twenty-four and twenty-six . It is odd , a square number and forms the sum of the five odd, single-digit numbers: (1 + 3 + 5 + 7 + 9 = 25).

The twenty-five stands for the atomic number of the chemical element manganese (Mn) in the periodic table .

The 25th anniversary plays an important role in occidental society , since 25 years correspond to a quarter of a century. A twenty-five year anniversary is often referred to as a "silver" one. Silver weddings , service anniversaries and the like are celebrated as special events. The Catholic Church has celebrated a jubilee year every 25 years since 1470 .

Silver coins or medals are often minted on 25-year commemoration days for special events . For example the Prussian 3 Mark silver coin for the “25. Anniversary of the accession to the throne of Kaiser Wilhelm II (1888–1913) ”, the British 1  Crown silver coin for the“ 25th anniversary of King George V's accession to the throne (1910–1935) ”or the 10 Euro silver coin for the“ 25. Anniversary of the accession of Portugal and Spain to the European Union (1986–2011) ”.
