The Princely Chamber in Braunschweig was built in 1764 by the architect Ernst Wilhelm Horn (1732–1812) and served the administration of the Princely Chamber and the financial administration under Duke Charles I (1713–1780). The building is located at the Martinikirche 7. Today the State Building Department is housed here. In the past, the term ducal chamber was also common.

building

The Princely Chamber was built in place of the medieval tournament house. The Princely Chamber consisted of three departments. These departments were responsible for the domains, forests and mines. The building also housed the ducal building department, as well as the mountain and steelworks library and the building department's library. The front was created before the construction of the neighboring landscape house . Flat wall pillars structure the five-axis building above a square ground floor. Three protruding central axes are crowned by a triangular gable. On the gable you can see the ducal coat of arms with a leaping welfenhorse , next to it Neptune and the Wild Man as symbols for the world trade of the city of Braunschweig (Neptune) and the assertiveness (Wilder Mann).

From 1771 to 1772 an extension was built to connect to the von der Heyde house to the west . The facade, which was damaged in the Second World War in 1944, was reconstructed from 1948 to 1959 and has since been renovated again.
