Friedrich Knoll (born August 10, 1841 in Braunschweig ; † March 16, 1900 there ) was a German city ​​geometer and author of historical and topographical studies on the city of Braunschweig and its immediate surroundings.

Knoll's training took place in Braunschweig. From 1861 he worked in Hanover . Between 1862 and 1864 Knoll attended mathematics lectures at the Collegium Carolinum , the forerunner of today's Technical University of Braunschweig . From 1877 onwards, Knoll was employed in the municipal construction office in his hometown, where he was used to draw up the Braunschweig site plan . On January 1, 1880, he was employed there as a “city geometer”. In the years 1882/83 and 1886 to 1889, Knoll was entrusted with the mapping of the local building plans drawn up by Ludwig Winter , the town planning officer, which formed the basis for the expansion of Braunschweig's city in the coming decades . Knoll published the knowledge gained in the course of his professional activity in several books on the history of the city of Braunschweig and the Duchy of Braunschweig .

A street was named in his honor in the Braunschweig district of Gliesmarode .

In 1861 Knoll began collecting newspaper clippings on the history of Braunschweig. After his death, his nephew Paul Schadt and later surveying inspector Wilhelm Schadt continued this work until 1955. The "Knoll-Schadtsche Collection" consisting of 205 folders is in the Braunschweig city archive .
