Ernst Wilhelm Horn

Ernst Wilhelm Horn (* 1732/33 in Wilnau in the Altmark ; † April 17, 1812 in Braunschweig ) was a German architect of the late Baroque.

Life

Horn has been in Braunschweig since 1760, in which year he was involved in construction work at the Autorshof as an engineer in the service of the Chamber. He worked as a tax collector from 1766 and as chief paymaster from 1780. He also carried out building control tasks. He died in Braunschweig in 1812.

His main work is the construction of the chamber building opposite the Martini church , which was built from 1763 to 1764 and housed the ducal financial administration. Between 1773 and 1785 built the medieval Horn Neustradtrathaus to which an early classical received facade. Other works are the poor hospital built in 1780 in Wilhelmstrasse , the Alerdschen Foundation building erected between 1789 and 1792 in Tournamentstrasse , the printing wing of the orphanage in Hinter Liebfrauen , built between 1797 and 1801, and the altars in the choir of St. Andrew's Church built before 1789, which have not been preserved .
